Despite being a hovering vehicle with a force field, what Alessia is driving is pretty well the 23rd century equivalent of a jeep. The way I see it, if and when force field technology comes into play, most vehicles will probably make use of it eventually, but only to the degree of deflecting minimal damage, like, say, collision with another vehicle. So their vehicle really isn?t combat ready per se.
