andrew rocha (nall) says: It's always strange that the smallest problems are always blown way out of praportion by our fears of having to eventually talk to one's parent(s)/guardian or even a person you look up to.  Mainly out of the fact of the disappointment you know that they have in you.  Some times you can punish yourself a million times over before the actual punishment comes, and when it does come it seems less harsh than what you were putting on yourself or expecting.  Not always though.
