Brian Babendererde ||    External Homepage ·

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Brian was drawn to art, animation, and gaming at an early age. In the early 90s, he was lucky enough to break into the growing video and computer gaming market as an artist, animator, and game designer. It wasn’t long before he moved full time into game design, a subject that had always fascinated him.

Brian currently has over 20 published interactive games to his credit, spanning 16 years and a wide variety of platforms, including TurboGraphix 16, SNES, Genesis, PC, PS2, and XBOX. He was a designer and lead artist on the hit Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity (PC), named one of the "Best 50 Games Ever Made" as well as the "Funniest Game Ever Made" by PC Gamer Magazine. He went on to help found Valkyrie Studios where he created SepterraCore: Legacy of the Creator (PC), a game which won several RPG of the Year awards and gained a dedicated cult following around the world. He also worked as a designer and script writer on PSI-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (PS2 & XBOX), often considered a modern cult classic.

In the spring of 2001, Brian returned to his first love, sequential art. He developed the comic series Soul Chaser Betty, combining a never realized game design concept with a desire to try his hand at a different medium. Betty was published online from the fall of 2001 through 2004, appearing on both his personal web site, www.twilighttangents.com, as well as being serialized on www.graphicsmash.com.

Brian currently lives in the suburbs of Chicago where he continues to work as a freelance game designer and artist. His work has been featured in the book Visual Storytelling: The Art and Technique by Tony Caputo.
