Story

Here are some tips and definitions to help you better understand what’s happened so far and the reason for things occurring in the future of the story:

WORLD: The story takes place in current day California (more specifically, the surrounding area of San Francisco) where there is a large population of Carasonian residents. Humans and Carasonians have inhabited Earth together for some time now, but there is still a lot of tension between the two.

SPECIES: Carasonians are a race of mammals descended from Dragons. Before the “rift” opened, they lived in a separate dimension from Earth (the opening and closing of the “rift” over hundreds of years is where the fairytales of Dragons came about). The Carsonian world has been in and out of civil wars, and because of this many refugees sought a new life on Earth once the “rift” opened again. For the last 50 years, the Carasonian population in major cities in America has boomed.

Half-Bred – slang term for a person who has one Carasonian parent and one Human parent; the person usually has several characteristics of each species, either physical, metal or both

Carasonian Half-Bred – characteristics include light skin and fair complexion, and light hair and eye color; half-breds can have tails and wings, but some don’t; usually passive aggressive and prone to Human illnesses

Human Half-Bred – characteristics include light skin and fair complexion, and light hair and eye color; usually don’t have tails and wings, but if they do it’s  usually very small or underdeveloped; sometimes overly aggressive and tend to loose their temper quickly

Half-Blood – term for a Carasonian who was born on Earth but has two parents who are refugees; has all the characteristics of a Full-Blood except the birthright

Full-Blood – term for a Carasonian who was born in Carasonia but came to Earth as a refugee

Fledging - used to describe the process of "emerging flight" for a Carasonian; most Carasonians will grow their wings out at the age of 5, but for Half-Breds the process can happen at a much later age or not at all. The term literally means "to leave the nest".
