1. This totally historically accurate pulp-adventure comic was created in September 2003 for Willamette Week's "Big Strip-Off" cartooning contest.

2. BTW, John McLoughlin was a very real, and very fascinating, guy. He was also the subject of some of the most hilariously, inadvertently scary photographs I have ever seen.

3. Oh, and I'd tell you that the rampant stereotyping was meant to comment on the "Manifest Destiny" mindset, but that kind of ruins the fun.
