CulturePulp interviews 'Persepolis' creator Marjane Satrapi.

1. Grey-tones for this installment by Chad Essley

2. "Persepolis" opens today (Friday, Jan. 25) in Portland, and it’s absolutely worth your time and money -- really, it's one of the most emotionally ambitious animated films I’ve ever seen. (Satrapi’s original graphic novel is phenomenal, too.) My boss Shawn Levy’s review of the film can be found here.

3. ONLINE BONUS FEATURE! This comic was distilled from an intense, wide-ranging 40-minute interview with Satrapi. You can read the entire transcript right here

4. And if you want to read another, much-longer non-fiction comic about Satrapi and "Perseopolis," I highly recommend Gordon McAlpin's "Persepolis 2.1: The Story of a Signing" over at

Lettering too small? You can download a high-rez PDF of this comic right here: CulturePulp70.pdf

barry johnson (toonprivate) says: completely cool. thanks.
Zanny W. (mysticalchicken) says: I just bought the Persepolis graphic novel (the first one) at Powell's yesterday, and loved it.  I've been wanting to see the movie since I saw a clip of it on The Colbert Report a week or two ago (I hadn't heard of it before then).
