This is the cover for the first (and so far only) graphic novel I ever drew. It was about 80 pages and finished in 1995. I grew up loving holiday specials and decided I wanted to create my own (and I guess be a sidekick in it.)
The story was about a cartoon version of myself and a made up character named Nick Heyward who was a part time superhero. Together we uncover a conspiracy involving snowmen from hell and evil TV puppets. And even get to fight some giant robots and flying saucers! The cover was colored by my friend John Green who continued on to collabarate with me on Jax Epoch, Teen Boat, and tons of future awesome stuff.
Perhaps someday an animation studio will wanna turn this into a real holiday special...

This is a random page from "Darkness in December". It's from the middle of the book where my character sneaks back stage of the Christmas Show hosted by Fred the Big Fat Happy Elf (who is hypnotizing the youth of america in order to convert them into rabid psycho killers).

I used to be all about drawing crowd scenes. Now I avoid them at all costs!
