ABOUT THE COMIC

Discordia is a comic strip that explores a crossover of Egyptian and Greek mythology. More specifically, it's an inter-cultural romance and drama between Set, Egypt's god of chaos, and Eris, Greece's goddess of discord, with a dab of Grecian comedy and a splash of Egyptian politics.

It all started in November of 2008, when I had the random idea of a cross-cultural romance between Eris and Set, but didn't know how to turn an amusing thought into a full-fledged story. At first, a novella or novel seemed like a good idea, but it never went anywhere. In 2009, inspiration struck again. I put together a few premises, then went with the strongest one.

When I was first conceptualizing in 2008, the story was going to start with me exiling Eris from Greece, where she would then travel to Egypt and encounter Egypt's resident god of chaos. By 2009, I'd completely reversed their roles.

Another idea I briefly considered was a little weird. Let's leave it at that for now, but I'll probaly do something with it eventually.

I've always been interested in religions and mythologies, especially the Greek and Egyptian ones. The backstories, inside jokes, and sidenotes mentioned in the comic are all based on actual myths and characters, major and minor alike. (For example, Set's favorite food really is lettuce.)

If you're interested in the myths and histories of the characters beyond what the comic provides, or interested in mythology and comics in general, you can visit Discordia's blog.
