I didn't originally plan to have the "we are from France" joke in there; it just sorta happened.  The French-sounding name is just another one of those really obscure references that I seem to be so fond of.

My wife went to the library today and brought back an interesting book for me ... The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams.  Adams' best-known works were The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and its various sequels.  He died of a heart attack in 2001; The Salmon of Doubt is a collection of various essays and part of an unfinished novel.

The thing I like about Adams (and Terry Pratchett) is how they love to play with language.  Reading Shakespeare is like watching professional ballet; reading Adams and Pratchett is like turning on the radio and watching the kids dance around the backyard.  It may not be as skillful, but it's a lot more fun.
