I like Mr. M giving him a second chance, but I don't think the act of dropping a gun in a bucket of water will get rid of the fingerprints unless it had a high concentration of ammonia or bleach. I recently read an article where they have a technique for lifting fingerprints off of clothing with fair reliability.

Aren't fingerprints mainly caused by human oils in certain patterns? Soap is good for breaking down things like that, so if it's a janitor's bucket, then it probably would work.
