We just bought a hi-def TiVo Series 4, and we only have basic cable and a 15+ year old Panasonic TV. The awesome thing is that I can download 450 hours of low-def programming, which looks just fine on our TV, but we don't get premium programming, so an awful lot of it is movies from TCM. And I totally agree: as Bruce Springsteen said, 57 channels and nothing's on. And 57 channels?! What a loser.
