Dolly [sic] Madison Bakery's products were heavily promoted during the various Peanuts animated specials. These days, they're owned by Interstate Bakeries, the same people who brought us Twinkies, and Dolly Madison's trademark 'Zingers' now appear under the Hostess name in many parts of the country.

As for Thorton and Madison's (and the nation's) response to the burning of Washington? Throughout history, any time America has been attacked in an effort to frighten or demoralize or cow us, we have responded with a galvanized ferocity that has shaken the very firmament with its passion. Liberal and conservative, Republican and Democrat has always responded to attack the same way -- by closing ranks and doing what has to be done.

Someday, people will figure that out, and just stop trying it.
