A staunch proponent of women's rights, although years of postmodern feminist readings of various texts and subtexts have left Sylvia with a cynicism that precludes her from taking the concept of a male feminist seriously. She does tend to be more mature than her friends Lucky and Guy, and is slightly more emotionally detached from her liberal ideology than they are, and usually has a much more rational reaction to the things she reads in the newspaper.
