Hi, I'm gonna write this bio in the first person. I started this current comic a while back and it's been in my head for ages. I've been drawing comics for about a year now and that's really how long I've been drawing full stop. I like to think there's a steady progression of quality in this first issue, and hopefully that'll continue. This is also the first time I've ever used brushes. I put off using brushes for ages. Not really sure why, maybe because I read a lot of manga and indie comics which are usually drawn with fineliners or whatever. I drew some stuff witha fineliner today and I think using a brush has really helped me improve my penmanship. I was in two minds whether or not to put this comic in the slice-of-life genre as it does seem it at times (especially those first few pages) but I think it is quite alternative and the storyline tends to get quite experimental towards the end. I've also been experimenting more with panel layouts and different inking and toning techniques. This comic was originally going to be a self published 72 page comic, but to be fair I doubt that many people would actually buy it and I think a lot more people will see it online. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to ask me any questions (about the comic or what I had for lunch) then drop me an email at gilesruffer[at]hotmail[dot]com. I have no life so chances are I'll reply quite quickly! Thanks for reading. |
