Monday through Thursday

Massey Energy is a company that epitomizes the problems with the coal industry. It forces its employees to work in unsafe conditions and has killed hundreds, if not thousands of American citizens with its negligence. Unfortunuately, there is no easy way to protest them. In 2000, they had the Inez, KY Coal Slurry Spill. This accident ,to this day, still has disastrous ecological effects. In fact, reading about the negative effects and the chances of disaster frightens me to no end.

And yet, Congress voted to cut regulation of such a dangerous thing. Why? Because of a questionable report from the Coal industry said that it will create 316,000 jobs. That sounds dubious to me. Especially when Tufts University says that the industry group report's job-loss finding was based on flawed use of data from an unpublished academic study. The Tufts study reported that the EPA's rule could actually create 28,000 jobs.

Two weeks after they cut this regulation, WI Power in Wisconsin, right on Lake Michigan had their spill. Just in time for them not to be regulated.

I want to name names. I feel we need to send a message. I plan on writing to Nancy Peloci who did not vote and demand to know why she didn't vote. Where was her leadership on this subject. As far as I'm conserned there are only 2 not voting that have an excuse. The first is Gabrielle Giffords and the second is Michele Bachmann. We know which way she would have voted. My representative voted against the repeal. Did yours?

Something awesome:

If you, like myself want to make your voice heard, I have written letters just for you, my gentle readers. Using that list above, find your representative and send a copy to them I have letters written specifically for Leader Nancy Pelosi, whose address is:

235 Cannon HOB

Washington, D.C. 20515

Speaker of the House John Beohner:

Office of the Speaker

H-232 The Capitol

Washington, DC 20515

I also made a generic version for your representative, so you can send one for your representative. I have made three, the first is for those whose representative voted for this bill, for those who thankfully voted against this bill, and who those, like leader Pelosi, did not vote.

I also made 2 more. The first is for my representative, John Sarbanes, who voted against this bill, and Madison's own Rep, Tammy Baldwin.

John Sarbanes Address is:

2444 Rayburn HOB

Washington D.C. 20515

Tammy Baldwin's address is:

2446 Rayburn HOB

Washington, DC 20515

Of course, Oak Creek's own Congressman, Paul Ryan:

1233 Longworth HOB

Washington, D.C. 20515
