Monday through Thursday

On 9/11 I remember I was sick. I was running a fever and people kept running in to where I was working, paranoid that we were under attack. I left early and turned on the TV and was shocked. I crawled into bed after I took some drugs and watched the news. After 5 hours of watching CNN, I needed to escape and I needed to feel safe.

I love Arnold Schwarzenegger films. He was the action hero who did mostly sci-fi films. I love sci fi films. During the late 80's into the early 90s he released his films right around my birthday. I love watching his films because he has this sense of humor that comes out that makes the films so fun to see. So on 9/11 when I wanted to escape and feel safe, I picked True Lies.

I enjoyed that film because of Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis and their sharp humor. Plus, the Activia lady looked hot. It's a fun film. However, it sadly set up what the Bush administration was all about. Unlike "The Seige" which made the Bush administration a villian before the Bush administration was in the White House. Where we were at war with the terrorists in New York City and as a reaction, the President takes away our rights. Or Executive Decision where Kurt Russell has to brief Steven Segal on his way to save a plane from terrorists, but due to Steven Segal's death (Yes, he dies 20 minutes into the film) Kurt Russell has to lead his unit to save the day. But I wanted something fun.

True Lies is fun.

However, that isn't to say that the Islamaphobia of the film isn't wrong. And there weren't enough brown people to go around, so they cast Hawiian Tia Carrere as a Muslim terrorist. So is it any surprise that people think our first Hawiian president is a seceret Muslim Socialist terrorist? Tia Carrere's (Yes, the Babe-a-sourus Rex from Wayne's World) character Juno Skinner, like Obama, is a well educated scholar ,who is also a secret Muslim terrorist (We don't know if she is a socialist or not.) Is it any wonder why birthers think Obama is secretly foreign? And he is smooth just like Juno Skinner, I mean do you remember the Tango scene?

James Cameron, whose films often lean left (Dances With Wolves Avatar) switched gears and made a right wing film where we must be scared of Muslims and Hawiians.
