Mahlon Mitchell is the President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, being both the youngest and the first African American to serve in the post. When Act 10 was introduced and his union was exempt, he led the firefighters to join the teachers, nurses, and other public sector unions in protesting the elimination of collective bargaining. He did this to show solidarity with all union workers. Without his leadership, the firefighters and cops might not have joined the fight against Act 10. During the rallies in the days that followed, he showed himself to be a charismatic and intelligent leader who spoke truth to power about how Scott Walker and the Republicans were trying to divide and conquer Wisconsin workers. I am voting for Mahlon Mitchell because he supports public education, Badgercare, and women's rights.
