This is important information right here. It doesn't matter what your immigration status is. Really, it doesn't. The Department of Labor's job is to enforce fair labor practices. Why?
I'll say it again, but I will make sure you all can see it.
LABOR RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS.
Get it? As employers we have to respect the people who work for us. No matter what.
The problem is, 1) I don't speak Spanish. and 2) Most people being abused by their employer do not know their rights.
I would post these in Spanish if I could just for the employees of Palermo's Pizza who don't speak English. If you think I have made some good points this week, but still are not ready to believe me, tomorrow will be the final nail in the coffin.
I had to rewrite this strip several times but it was Melissa Harris-Perry that allowed me to write this. Her talk on Immigration (And similar talks on Up With Chris Hayes) has allowed me to make this argument.
If you are not watching this show you are missing out. If anyone makes the argument that worker rights aren't human rights, well then, they probably would have argued for slavery 150 years ago. Or watch FOX News. Really is there a difference?
