Monday through Thursday

Why do conservatives think that there is a conclave of liberals who tell us what to think? Seriously? Where do they get this idea? I think it's crazy.

To be fair, I am about to make some broad generalities right here, because there are examples that go against this statement, so keep that in mind.

When you compare events like CPAC and NetRoots Nation you can see the example of what I'm about to say, when you see liberal movements, liberals tend to have broad open debates. Look at the Revolutionary War. It was lead by a group of individuals who constantly argued about how society should work. Now, with the revolution we had a group of intellectuals argue  how to make a more perfect union. If you look at the conservative movement today, there is none of that debate. You have sheeple who listen to someone preach to them and there is no rigorous debate about the pros and cons of the argument. Not to say it doesn't happen, because the modern conservative movement has worked hard to excorcise the people who don't agree with them; but that discussion isn't that deep.

This is part of the reason we don't see any good candidates from the Republican party right now. The only person who does this is the middle class destroying, spineless in the face of homophobes Chris Christie. I don't want you to forget that his policies would be toxic, but I will sing his praises when he is on the right side of the debate. Which is only 10% of the time. However, at times he has shown a willingness to have the conversation, but not to moderate.

The problem is when you have a party that is willing not to exercise a political debate, you end up with people willing to be servants to something more insidious. Big business and their unelected power over us. They want a mass of unthinking cogs to keep their machine running. But the great Mario Savio said it best:

I will repeat, "There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!"

Freedom of speech, freedom to associate, is in the first amendment to give our country a rigorous debate. That's why it's the first amendment. Because we would not be a nation if we did not have the ability to have that debate. However, totalitarianism of the kind that the Republicans seem to practice, prevents that from happening so they can remain in power.

The gas companies have enslaved us to 19th century technologies that are destroying the environment because they stay rich that way. Their money gives them power. Thus, their unelected leadership and buying of politicians for the past 150 years has made them the new East India Company. The East India Company was the monopoly that began our revolution from Great Britain. Now, in the 21st century, we must end the tyranny of the gas companies and have a new, peaceful revolution!

The only we can do that is have a free and open debate and not receive marching orders from who's in charge. The moment we start to see that happening, that's the moment you start to see tyranny.

Now, I'm going to start asking you this every episode in this story: please go to the paypal link and make a payment to help aid the protesters in paying legal fees or if you would rather send a check, please message Sue Trace and she will help you. They do have attorneys who are representing them for low or no cost. But at $36 per jury fee, the costs are mounting. These people are singled out by the Scott Walker administration and are trying be silenced instead of being allowed to express their Constitutionally protected rights.
