Gibson moved to Mt. Haven shortly after Knox and I did. He comes from a pretty well-to-do family. Rex introduced me to the VanBuren family when I was a kid, and Gibson's been following me around ever since.
Ever since I saw the first Superman movie I wanted a toady of my own, like Otis to Lex Luthor. I thought It would be fun to have some guy to push around and never get back-talk from. I've since learned to be careful what I wish for, 'cause I got Gibson.
I guess he's a nice enough guy, but he's a little on the dense side. He's very eager to please, but doesn't have the foggiest idea HOW to please. He also has a problem with tact. He'll blurt out whatever is on his mind (such as it is), no matter where he is or what company he's keeping. Add that to him being a trivia nut and believer in conspiracy theories, and you have a very irritating conversationalist. He's a bit girl-crazy, too.
Knox seems to like him, if for no other reason than because Gibson gets on my nerves so much. Rex has made it clear that I should be nice to him - why I don't know. I guess it's just Rex being a grown-up.
Gibson
can change just about any material to any elemental metal
for a short duration. I think we last clocked the change
lasting around three minutes. One major relief is he can't
do it to any living material; otherwise that debacle
with the ice cream on my shirt may have resulted in
me having a lead chest.
Part of his ability is he can actually SEE the molecular structure of non-living materials. He'd probably have a great future as a chemist or metallurgist, if he had enough brains to be a scientist.
