A Note on Technique

I draw the old-fashioned way, pencil, letter by hand, and then inks. I color the page digitally, unless it's a cover, or I'm feeling like using watercolor. Lester Severe incorporates what I consider traditional comic book techniques. The story is written out first, but then I'm pretty free with the page layout, and now-a-days just have a vague idea of the final form when I start. 

Lately, as I illustrate for clients, I'm experimenting with pencils, grays, etc.(which I can later scan in and color digitally). Lester Severe is definitely a place I try out different techniques. One day I hope to "re-imagine" the whole story from the beginning as I feel the artwork is a bit uneven in quality and style.
