CHARLES LEWIS FLETCHER was born September 18, 1845 in Shelby County, Alabama on a small farm called Figfield to Gwilym and Margaret Fletcher. He has confused ideas about God, but he believes in angels and would very much like to meet one.
Lewis feels things deeply and wishes he didn't. His sensitivity allows him the rare perspective to see things that other people don't ~ like the dead. Otherwise, Lewis likes his food plain, his women chaste, and his clothes clean and tidy. He is obsessive about hygiene. He worships at the altar of friendship, but has difficulty making friends because he sets impossible standards for himself and others. He believes in justice before charity, doesn't mince words, flatter people, or tell even the whitest of lies. He is not book-smart, but intelligent and naturally gentle when treated well. Despite a sort of grumbling exterior pessimism, he inwardly nurtures long-burning hope for good things.
