TENNESSEE MORSE, called "States", was born January 21, 1841 in Richmond, Virginia. He is the second son of Cleveland and Charlotte Morse. At a young age he showed an interest in religion. Educated at Georgetown College, he is a convert to the Catholic Church. He never reads but his knowledge is encyclopedic. He has memorized the Bible in as many languages as he is fluent. He has a very intense spiritual life and tends to be emotionally distant. He also has an unearthly quality that some people find very attractive and which others find incredibly disturbing.
