Dr. Mortimer Gray barely graduated in the top half of his class at St. Regis Medical College, but his talents for organization and politics allowed him to rise quickly in the bureaucracy of the hospital's administrative staff. He was, in fact, the member of the hospital board assigned to fire Dr. Chalko in the aftermath of Doc's injuries four years ago, and he and Doc haven't seen eye-to-eye since.
