Keep common sprites!
What this means is to prepare certain sprites, e.g. the background, stone statues, chests or Navi (takes a little while to prepare) and put them below your panels. When you need them just Alt-drag them to the top for a copy. Don't do this for Link and other sprites with many different poses, just things that won't change much between panels.
