Eliza Frye (elizafrye) says:
Oh bummer! Well, I will very much be looking forward to Tamino's improved return. I love this comic. (And also really understand the need for a backlog!)
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks very much Eliza! It's really good to know that there's someone out there. I look forward to pretty much anything you're going to do next!
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
So here's the deal: I have the chapter finished, which means there will be Tamino comics posted for the next eight weeks, just like this, four pages at a time. After that, I will have another hiatus as I finish the last chapter. Big thanks to any still reading the comic. I know it's been a long while.
freddi fredsen (fredsen) says:
Hi! Firstly, I wanted to cangratulate you to your splendid work! Creative and so wonderfully surreal. For me one of the best Comics I know. But also I'm a bit sad about the quality since the hiatus... this comic hasn't deserved it, that one almost can't read the text because of the bad compression... Keep up the great work!
Mike Marinos (mikemarinos) says:
Following a chance banner click in Comicspace I end up here! This is great stuff Mike. The sharacter, story, tone and mood really work for me. Congratulations and looking forward to the last chapter.
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks very much! I really appreciate it. I wonder what banner you clicked on.
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks for the kind comments and I'm sorry about the text. I will likely try and post bigger versions of the comic, which is really the issue here. These pages are only 65% the size of the old ones as I'm trying to fit them all on one screen.
robert gramling (rgramling) says:
Mr Luce... Just read Tamino up til 21 JAN 2009. Love the work. The Zen-like cognizance is great. The artwork is OUTSTANDING! I especially like the letters on the signs and billboards that are almost, but not quite, readable. Got this connection from a poster at PIBGORN (Brooke McEldowney on gocomics.com) who comments on your work often. Is there a way to sign up for an 'alert' as to when Tamino will resume here, or do we just keep checking back? Do I understand this next chapter is really the last? I hope that even if Tamino gos away that his replacement generates the same type of adventure that he did. Thank you for the wonderful entertainment. Bob
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thank you very much indeed! I didn't know someone was posting links to the comic, that's really good to know. I'll have to go thank that person. Thanks for the link. As to 'signing up,' I'm afraid that the notification list here doesn't seem to work. I don't know that they're ever going to fix it. I wish I knew a better solution for getting that information to you. If I think of something, I'll let you know. I know it's really hard to have to keep clicking and hoping. Tamino was meant to be one story and when it's over, I don't plan to do more with him or the comic. I have another project lined up. There is going to be a short interlude coming up before the last chapter. I wish I had a date for you. Thanks again for the kind words. I get very few and they mean a great deal to me.
Bjørnar Haveland (inshadowz) says:
Hello Mike. Like Robert above here, I came over from the Pibgorn comic site, after recommendation from other readers, and I've read as far as this today, February 25th. Still trying to wrap my mind around the storyline, but am fascinated by the artwork and the mysteriously sounding narrative. Good work :) Bjørnar
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks very much! I know this comic is a little hard to follow. All I can say is that 'm aiming to have everything come clear in the end. If you happen to see this, could you possibly show me where Tamino was mentioned? I've been trying to figure it out and haven't been able to locate the plug anywhere. I'd like to thank whoever sent you or anyone here. Thanks!
Bjørnar Haveland (inshadowz) says:
I saw the link to Tamino posted on the http://gocomics.com/pibgorn reader comments. You have to be a paying member to read strips and comments more than a month old, and I think it's a fair bit more than a month since it was mentioned. Unfortunately I don't quite remember who posted the link, and unfortunately I'm — *embarrassed cough* — one of the non-paying freeloaders (possibly subject to change). However, if you register (free) with gocomics.com, you can post your own comment there, if you wish. We're largely a quite likeable bunch and I'm sure any feedback you give will be very welcome :)
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks for the info! I appreciate your coming back.
M. M. (loeden) says:
Hey Mike! I found this comic through a banner, but even though I went back through every comic I have bookmarked I couldn't find it again-- Wasn't the gocomics place like the last fella since I don't read anything on there, but I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it (curse you, 'open new tab'!) Anyways, I just wanted to say that your artwork is absolutely incredible, and this is now on my bookmarks. It's very melancholy, and reading the archives to present was delightful. :)
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks very much! I think WCN has/had a program where they'd randomly put up banners for comics when they weren't selling adspace so things wouldn't look empty. I think that's where you might have seen the banner, though on which page I can't tell you. There is one more chapter of Tamino to come, and a quick four page interlude before that which should be out soon. Thanks for reading and commenting!
emily lacy-nichols (emilyrln) says:
I personally don't mind the contemplative, meandering pace, but I look forward to seeing what is coming next! (I just recently found this archive and have been paging through--beautiful combination of art and text, very lyrical!)
emily lacy-nichols (emilyrln) says:
I love the city made of blocks! :)
emily lacy-nichols (emilyrln) says:
Yeah, the text is a bit small; I can still read it without difficulty, but I sympathize with fredsen. maybe two at a time, or three? or make two on top and two below--the numbers in each panel make it difficult to get lost :) 'course, it may be moot by now; seeing as it's 2008 and the comic says 2008 at the bottom... I shall see as I read!
emily lacy-nichols (emilyrln) says:
I look forward to reading the next (last, alas) chapter, and I've enjoyed it greatly to date! Good luck with your next project, too! I was intrigued by a banner I saw on a comic hosted at http://aroo.smackjeeves.com/comics/
Mike Luce (mike_luce) says:
Thanks very much! Sorry it's been so long. I actually had a project pop up in the last month that I've completed that kind of got in the way.
I have no idea what a banner was doing where you said there was one. I haven't advertised. Weird!
