Hello GAAKsters. It is I, Darryl Hughes aka "TheDeeMan", writer/creator of "G.A.A.K: Groovy Ass Alien Kreatures" with Monique "Coydog" MacNaughton. Monique and I would love to hear from you guys about how you're liking the story so far (or-gasp!-not) who our favorite characters are, or least favorite characters, what the hell is up with Gakk's hairdo (or hair-don't as the case may be), etc. Let us knw what's on your mind. So sign up now to post a comment and give us a shout out. We'll holla back--I promise. :)

NEWS! Monique and I were just nominated in the "Rising Stars" category for the 2007 Glyph Comics Awards. Not too shabby. LOL!

Darryl Hughes (thedeeman) says:
Forward to the past! If you get a sense of deja-vous or "Here we UFO again" in that first panel, yes this page picks up right where the story left off WAY back at the very beginning of GAAK in those first 6 pages. Making this the longest recap /flashback in scifi comic history. LOL.

Darryl Hughes (thedeeman) says:
Oh, that Gakk. Putting the "Eww!" back in UFO. LOL! :)

Hi, folks. As I've mentioned here before, Monique and I are up for a 2007 Glyph Comic Award. They just posted the nominee profiles in our category (Rising Stars) over at the Glyph blog. You can find it here: www.popcultureshock.com/category/blogs/glyphs And again, wish us luck. I'd LOVE to win this sucker. LOL! Dee - GAAK writer dude.
Darryl Hughes (thedeeman) says:
The 2007 Glyph Comic Awards were announced today and Monique and I didn't win for "Rising Star". Sucks. Because I REALLY wanted to win this too. And don't believe what you hear--It's not an honor JUST to be nominated. LOL!
Congrats go out to fellow WCN'er Spike and her webcomic "Templar, Arizona" for her win as the Glyph Comic Award "Rising Star" for 2007.
We'll get 'em next year! LOL! :)

Graham Finch (grahamfinch) says:
Okay, what the hell is going on? Why are old strips being recycled, and why are the archives being deleted?
Darryl Hughes (thedeeman) says:
The comic is being reshown. The archives aren't being deleted. From what I understand from Monique the pages being shown for some reason aren't available in the archive because they are 'active". Also. We've got the complaint that the Webcomics Nation interface doesn't take you to the beginning of the archive when you press the first button. I've tried it, it doesn't. I suggest that, if you're new and want to read GAAK from the beginning, you use the "table of contents" to find the pages that you want to read and use the "next" button to move through the pages. It works fine that way. Dee - GAAK writer dude
Graham Finch (grahamfinch) says:
Why are you guys rerunning the archives only on Mondays? You have, what, three years' worth of material to get through? Wouldn't it be quicker to run it more often? I don't think your readers would want to see old stuff running till 2012.
Darryl Hughes (thedeeman) says:
Well Graham, you're a little late to the game. We actually started rerunning it 3 days a week a LONG TIME AGO and only recently switched to monday's onlyto make it last until the debut of "The Continentals". The archive should finish rerunning sometime in mid summer. Dee - GAAK writer dude
