The people who'd invested $21M were angry...

Turns out that accounting irregularities had come to light. Doug had been cooking the financial projections from the CFO...
... and presenting them to the venture capital group.

The people who’d invested $21M were angry. They demanded layoffs to recoup their cash. Employees bailed.

The cuts were not enough to save the business. Megazon bought the crippled startup for cheap… …and forced out Doug as part of the deal. Urrrrrrp!

The re-branded Web site "MEGAZON iDEANESS" housed stale press releases. The product was shelved. Big software players released their own versions three years later.

Doug day-traded in Orange County, then rehabbed his career as entrepreneur and even a V.C.
