Pen, brush and ink on 11 x 17 paper Tools: Hunt 102 and 108 nibs, a #2 watercolor brush and a bottle of Koh-I-noor India ink. I think this is probably one of my favorite pages and I’d like to do more like it. The characters were composited into my photographed backgrounds. I shot the ref photos in a posh Montreal Suburb. I loved drawing the car in panel 1 & 2 and the house in panel 4 looks pretty majestic. Too many artists gloss over the backgrounds. They’re important for “world building”. So I punish myself and draw the most ridiculously detailed ones that I can manage. -Jay
