GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER GEEZER

I loved drawing this cartoon, for a couple of good reasons. At the beginning of this year, I wrote one of my favorite cartoonists and asked him to give me a caption that I could illustrate. This is what he gave me. I'm referring to Scott LaRue, who creates the comic Journey to Mount Moriah. Scott and I started our comics at roughly the same time, and we've both been through many changes with them. We've kept in touch, and I look forward to reading his comic every Sunday. Scott's imagination knows no bounds, and I know he will always surprise and delight me with his creations. The inspiration for this drawing came from a print that hung on a bedroom wall of my grandma's home. My mom told me that she used to look at it as a child and feel sorry for the little girl. That made me smile, because photos of mom at that age look remarkably like this little girl. And Mom was a little girl during the Great Depression. That made it a natural for Scott's caption. Thanks, Scott!
