I got the idea for this cartoon while taking care of my mom after her stroke. Mom lived on a two block street populated with retired people. Several of the women actually took casseroles to the widowers, as a method of flirting. Since Mom called her neighborhood Widderville, that's what I called my comics. Mom was so proud of my comics that she called the editor of the local paper, who was kind enough to run Widderville for almost two years. This one was the first of my comics ever published.
