duane korol (sdklocke) says:
Wow! Mass devastation! I highly doubt Quake made it out alive.
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
If Castle Chocula collapses ... what happens to the Krispies? They're still in the dungeon as far as we know. Will Snap, Crackle, and Pop become Fold, Spindle, and Mutilate?
eric fields (emf) says:
YES! YES! YES! OH GAWD YES!!!
Kevin Conod (kdconod) says:
Ouch - that's gotta hurt!
Adam Self (suedodeus) says:
Huh. Didn't think the mascot from Sugar Bombs (a cereal in Fallout 3) would make an appearance. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Sugar_Bombs
Dave Van Domelen (dvandom) says:
Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, a la Calvin and Hobbes. Or Chocula-frosted, in this case.
Marrock Volsung (marrockv) says:
I'd rather see Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, which was the cereal Calvin enjoyed on a regular basis before altering reality with Hobbes.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
Oh good going there Quake. Is anybody left alive anymore? That'll punch open the other coffin, that's for sure. But Tony's wife is a widow.
David Minerley (dharma88) says:
Hm - I am not sure that all were lost. Could it be that the flash of light under the (special) "K" in "Krun-Choom" is the wizard getting a protective shield up just in time? Only the next page will tell!
eric fields (emf) says:
Hey, who cares if everybody got irradiated, or burned alive, or blown apart by the shock wave? I think it was all worth it for the sake of that devastatingly awesome high-fructose-mixed-with-antimatter-krun-chucking-CHOOM-ing explosion! I wonder if Kaboom the clown was alive to see it. If so, I think he would have enjoyed it immensely.
Daniel Ballow (dannyphantombeast) says:
Brendan Douglas Jones. I'm doing a project in sequential art. I was wondering if you'd be interested in conducting an interview.
Anon Private (aprivate) says:
Haven't had one bad thing to say about this series yet. Quite teh contrary, actually. Alas, the panel of the falling ship seems incomplete or out-of-place to me. In contrast to the other fully rendered art, it seems likethis panel is still in the rough sketching phase with transparent ship very simply drawn.
Anon Private (aprivate) says:
Minor note: on the Table of contents this is listed as page 37. Pafe 37 is listed twice.
Brendan Jones (poyorick) says:
Thanks for the feedback, Anon. The images of the falling ship were drawn very sketchily on purpose because they are "ghost" images of the ship on its way down. Then there's a more fully rendered (and colored) image of the ship just above the mountain. It's visual shorthand for the movement of an object. However I agree that I didn't pull it off as well as I had hoped. If nothing else, this series has really pushed me to the limitations of my artistic abilities. And thanks for the heads up on the Table of Contents. I'll see about fixing that.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
But the sense of falling, or crashing, is enhanced by the two inset panels. But I had no problem with the ghost images of the falling ship. I saw it and instinctively knew what you intended - so it worked.
Sean Martin (sean_d_martin) says:
I understood what was being depicted, Brendan. Just, given the level of detail and depth generally shown in your art, the rather simple image, even of the more fully rendered ship just above the mountain, made this panel (or, more accurately, the ship in the panel. The mountain and even castle seem fine to my eye.) seem not up to the usual standard. To be clear, loving the story and VERY impressed with the art. Which is why this one object struck me as not-quite-there. (And disn't realize previous postings were going to show as "Anon". Generally prefer to actually use my name. (Although I see from comments on other pages that I'm not to only reader who has it!)) - Sean Martin
Sean Martin (martino13) says:
I have no problem with the artwork. Still fantastic for me! And it is a GRRRR-EAT name!
