What, everyone's a sober tee-totaller now?! Oh, oh, oh, right. Esme is the only hard drinker among the women. You can extinguish the torches and put back the pitchforks, people! The continuity has not been infringed upon. It has been preserved. Repeat, continuity has been preserved.
By the way, does Carol have an erect nipple in that last panel?
You filthy people! Yes, that's a bit of sleeve flare.
And please note that several people in this strip are holding beers. Even Norma has nothing actually against drinking beer, it just doesn't get her drunk. Carol's still a teetotaller, yes...that's left over from her intensive training as an assassin of the Black Tiger. In fact, that's going to be a crucial factor both in the immediate future and in an upcoming plotline. But until recently her only outlet was cigarettes, and now she's (mostly) given those up. Which is why she was kind of stressed out recently. If she stays tobacco-free, something's got to give...
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Indeed! She's been working out.
Unfortunately the proportions are a little off there. Stairs are not only hard to draw, they make everything else harder.
PS. This strip won't be up in full colour (with shading) until tuesday. Apologies.
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Once again, I have to apologize that this isn't totally coloured yet. Hopefully it'll be nicely shaded and whatnot either sometime tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Hey, now I remember why I stopped doing two strips a week for the summer!
Drew Thiele (gryphbear) says:
Is the satyr/faun hopefully gay? :D lol.
Ben Slotnick (compl33tbull) says:
he doesnt sund very gay to me, he used the word straight
That's how you choose whether to be gay or straight: you have to call it.
Nick here is pretty much your typical satyr, which on the one hand means he goes after nymphs and whatnot, but on the other hand, he's ancient Greek. So there you are. I'd say he'd sleep with anything with a pulse...does that count?
I have kind of a "repertory cast" of background people who are friends of the Omegans and show up now and then to reward people who are paying attention. Some of them actually have backstories and will become important at some point (like Dankmeyer, the guy who's always got a little raincloud following him around), and some are just random extras. In fact, if you look in the earliest strips--I think the third strip ever--you can catch Brandina, before she'd been formally introduced. She went from random background person to major character, which is something I didn't even plan, originally.
Okay, yes I've given this portion of the strip a standing ovation. Slight nitpick, I'd rather it be Carol than Mary-Lynn. Okay, that's a personal choice. (actually Esme and Carol, if you want to know specifics, but I digress).
Nevertheless ... what, did Cosmo ingest stud drugs between parts 1 & 2? Is it hypnosis? Is the green whatsis affecting him as much as the statue of Dyonisius (sp?) There is just no accounting for this guy being the object of so much physical affection.
Or it could be that I'm just jealous. In fact, the likelihood is quite high.
Well, as I said in my livejournal (http://prankster36.livejournal.com/), Cosmo went through a lot of hassle in the last book, this is my way of making it up to him.
Carol has lightened up a bit, but she's unlikely to want to participate in a three-way at this point. She's still pretty repressed.
robin, little boy in tights.....hoo is owned by a strange man that keeps to himself......

Question: This is actually in regard to the page you put out Sept. 19, but I just noticed it. On Ganji's shirt, I recognize the reference to the Jamaican flag, but is that the Star of David on front or is it .... well, does it reference anything? I don't know.
Well, in fact, Ganji's shirt is an exact copy of the *Ethiopian* flag. The Jamaican flag is a yellow X on a green and black background.
Rastafarians see Ethiopia as kind of a holy land; as I understand it, most black Jamaicans have their roots in Ethiopia, and Rastafari is modelled partly on the branch of Judaism practiced in Ethiopia. Yes, there are a lot of black Jews in Ethiopia. Really.
I knew a Rastafari guy, on whom Ganji is partly based, who always referred to his ancestry as "Ethiopian" even though his family had been in Jamaica for at least a couple of centuries. Ganji, of course, is actually FROM Ethiopia. I will get to his backstory someday, I promise, but for now, I'll just say that he was a pagan spirit, like all Genies, who was in the employ of a Rastafarian sorceror who managed to convert him.
It has come to my attention that the Ehtiopian flag is usually flown without that central symbol, just as a simple tricolor, and the version on Ganji's shirt is a little more bureaucratic. But what the heck--he bought it at a gift shop. He's pretty easygoing about that anyway.
Whoops. Yeah - totally forgot what the Jamaican flag was. A case of seeing too many reggae albums referencing Ethiopia and Selassie that I connected the tr-colors with Jamaica. Thank you for the correction, and insight into Ganji.
Great Sage (sunwukong) says:
Might like to point out that Wicca isn't neccesarily BLACK Magic Mr Slotnick, you are revealing your bias there :). Yeah the picture on Ganji's shirt was clearly meant to be the Star of David - for the reasons Adam gives, it might be a reference to the Seal of Solomon as well, as it was Solomon that bound all the Djinn into bottles etc originally - according to legend . Pretty sure that the Pentacle is also that Seal - could be wrong on that though as I am not a magician - just an Ethnologist :)
Ben Slotnick (compl33tbull) says:
nah im not biased, in fact im actually in love with black magic and the like(ive been labeled a gothy emo kid cause of it) and i just used wat little i remembrerd off hand
