Professor Artemus Von Brecht WILL be showing up again, but not until Book Three.
Those of you who have read onwards understand who was in the ice, right?
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Here's Carol! As you can see, she was a lot curvier when I first created her; originally Esme was the skinny one (though you can't really tell beneath her baggy jackets). I quickly realized she and Carol needed to switch bodies, since Esme's the motherly type and Carol's more graceful and athletic. But obviously I never went back and redrew these strips. Too much work!
This is one of those weird extrapolations that I do; the Fox and Quasar looks a lot like the kind of pub you'd find here in Toronto. I have no idea if they have them in California (which, in case it wasn't clear, is where Freak U. is set). But hey--this IS supposed to be a super-normal University...
Brandina again in the foreground of panel three, and of course Mary-Lynn in photographic form. The "pool shark" guy (get it? GET IT?) is another character who I created to fill out the background, though I don't think I've used him since.
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Bonesy's a former member of Omega Psi Phi--there are a few of them lurking about. You can read his (perhaps slightly surprising) backstory in the Book One print collection. He was a pirate, of course, but maybe not the way you think...
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Oh man, I really think I nailed the action sequence here. Whooo! I was definitely starting to improve as an artist here.
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
There was actually another strip where we saw these two guys get killed, but I didn't want to confuse things while we still had the "Cosmo assassination" subplot going on. So Smiley doesn't make his first appearance until after we kind out the Hooded Figure's identity.
The Wymmyn's Circle was originally named Daughters of the Night, but then I realized that Children of the Night was the perfect name for Vincent and Esme's band, so I redid the dialogue here. Obviously that's Hester, Loquesha, and the various as-yet-unnamed members.
By the way, I'm obviously tweaking feminists a bit here, but I don't have anything against them in general. It's just that college feminists can be somewhat ridiculous in my experience. They tend to just be getting into feminism, and overcompensating in somewhat silly ways.
