I'm doing it more to create DRAMA!!! than to make some kind of deep statement about relationships. But c'mon, you *know* Woodlouse and Norma wasn't going to work out. Honestly, I usually plan the story out one way and it ends up veering in a different direction. I mentioned before that it happened with Brandina--she was meant to be kind of a minor character and she ended up insinuating herself into the story. Kalinar is kind of the same way, I knew he existed and was a former Omega House member, but I didn't expect him to play such a large role in things. There's a whole ton of former Omega alumni I've got floating around in my imagination, I have to fight not to keep letting them all burst in and take over the strip. That said, there will eventually be a "commencement" storyline, and we'll get to meet some of the others. And I actually want to do something else with Kal, but I don't want to say too much at the moment. But anyway, yeah. Norma's plotline has kind of surprised me. There *is* an intentional parallel with all the relationships, but I'm sort of working by instinct here. However, it would be pretty lame if every single couple ended up hating each other, so cling to that hope! Also, I think the "compliant male, dominant female" is coming partly from me trying not to let the frat-boy shenanigans tip over into misogyny, and providing a balance. Of course, Oona and Thor is just kind of funny.
