Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
I believe the Rasta guy is now Pwned :). What a shame that everyone's relationships seem based on a lie - this will not end happily I fear
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
I have a feeling that there's going to be shenanigans, bed swapping, and eventually everyone winding up in a great big pile. Just as long as Doctor Destiny isn't somewhere listening to the Adaam's Family theme and saying, "Neat."
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
At least one heart is going to get broken, of course because Carol and Cos,mo are Destined Lovers I suspect poor Brandina will be the weepy one - at least.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
Personally, I think the Mo could stand with a little of the 'ole Brandina spontaneous throw down.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
That was unexpected - even though I go back and see that there is plenty of foreshadowing about this development. Nicely played, M. Prosser. Nicely played. Quick question: How many different shades of pink are there in panel 5?
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Eight zillion!
Eh, it's all half-tones and blends and stuff. I'm not Photoshop-proficient enough to be able to actually count them.
jimmy banthrall (jimmyinwhite63) says:
No wonder he's hiding.I see this not going well for hubby. For that matter anyone trying to hide him.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
So the Freak House has a long tradition of being Pwned by their women folk - good, the sooner someone tames Cosmo the better :)
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
Earth Boys are Easy
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
Oh NOOOOOO! (Note: Not a criticism, just a response to the situation.)
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
Just remind me - was Norma's spaceship always such a girly pink colour or has she remodelled it to suit her new persona - love the little cutesy love heart on the periscope thingy btw
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Technically, in its first appearance or so it was a greenish colour (but otherwise looked the same). I'm too lazy to link to it right now, but the strip where Woodlouse follows her into the woods you can see it as green. The interior, however, always looked like this.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
Oona has camel toe? I'm sorry, I shall check into a sick house.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
Has The Wife's hair become shorter? Where and when did she have time to get it cut?
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Well, it's an attempt to make it seem to "float" a little more, but yeah, I'm definitely drawing it shorter than I was before. Claim your No-Prize, and I'll correct it when I do the finishing colouration for this strip...
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
WOOOOOOTT!!!! I finally have a No-Prize, years of reading Marvel Comics and finally it all pays off. :)
So this chapter is obviously about dysfunctional relationships - even stable ones like Vince and Esme are breaking apart, Woodlouse and Norma Jean are about to go the way of the Pear and Cosmo is a Player SOB that will leave his faithful girl for that Kung fu bimbo, and the same for every one else too - so is there going to be any true love left unshattered at the end of this? sad if there isn't.
One wonders if Adam recently broke up withthe love of his life and is feeling bitter?
If this is autobiographical at all, which I doubt, I suspect that Adam has been the target of life-partner vengeance since its all the men who are being targeted.
Oona and Rainy-Head man, though. That's true love - of an aggressive female and a compliant male.
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
Heh heh, no, unfortunately I never dated a Marilyn Monroe lookalike. But yes, there's a whole subtext for book two. I'm doing it more to create DRAMA!!! than to make some kind of deep statement about relationships. But c'mon, you *know* Woodlouse and Norma wasn't going to work out.
Honestly, I usually plan the story out one way and it ends up veering in a different direction. I mentioned before that it happened with Brandina--she was meant to be kind of a minor character and she ended up insinuating herself into the story. Kalinar is kind of the same way, I knew he existed and was a former Omega House member, but I didn't expect him to play such a large role in things. There's a whole ton of former Omega alumni I've got floating around in my imagination, I have to fight not to keep letting them all burst in and take over the strip. That said, there will eventually be a "commencement" storyline, and we'll get to meet some of the others. And I actually want to do something else with Kal, but I don't want to say too much at the moment.
But anyway, yeah. Norma's plotline has kind of surprised me. There *is* an intentional parallel with all the relationships, but I'm sort of working by instinct here. However, it would be pretty lame if every single couple ended up hating each other, so cling to that hope!
Also, I think the "compliant male, dominant female" is coming partly from me trying not to let the frat-boy shenanigans tip over into misogyny, and providing a balance. Of course, Oona and Thor is just kind of funny.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
I understand - it is a really nice dramatic conceit you have here, parallel relationships apparently self destructing - it keeps me interested - more so than if this were just some gag of the week strip.
Josh Shepherd (bergerjacques) says:
I am nervous about the heretofore unseen vengeance powers of Norma.
Marrock Volsung (marrockv) says:
Welcome to earth you vacuous blond bint... get used to it.
jimmy banthrall (jimmyinwhite63) says:
he's in for it now.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
I am hoping she gender bends him but I am not very sanguine about this happening - Mr prosser is not so into it :)
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
Wow, Woodlouse got well and truly dumped - i was hoping for a more spectacular vengeance from the hearbroken alien cutie but I suppose this was more in character
tjgeezer (tjgeezer) says:
Considering that human males occasionally talk back, I wonder if she still wants all that genetic material she collected earlier.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
I wonder if the Life bond thing will reassert itself now Kal is gone - that would be a delicious agony for poor old Woody
Adam Prosser (prankster) says:
The life bond only works if you're wearing the engagement ring, and Woodlouse gave it back to Norma. Also, I'm pretty sure Kalinar's spells are permanent, or at least that one is. So no. That would indeed have been ironic, though.
Sunwu Kong (gr8ts4g3) says:
Shame, still there ought to be consequences to this - merely buszzing off back home is anticlimatic and a bit boring IMHO.
