Lately I've been working from color files that do not have shading. Apparently back in 2002, I did the shading at a different stage of the process, on the reduced files, to save processor power and disk space. I no longer have this need, but I usually don't have time to reapply shading. For some images, however, the shading was originally added to the full-size color files and so using these sometimes results in inconsistent looking comics, if one half of the original art for a given strip has shading and the other does not. This was one of them, so I recreated the original shading for it. I hope I won't have to do that very often; the unshaded images compress beautifully and make for much lighter pageloads.
