The premise of Freak-U is simple and familiar: new kid goes to college & get mixed up with a wacky fraternity, but the twists and turns Adam Prosser takes with the story are endlessly inventive and always very very funny, making Freak-U unlike anything you have read before. The story moves along at a rapid pace and is populated by a large cast of outrageous characters -- including (to name but a few) barbarian women, lesbian girlfriends, super-powered ninjas, chainsaw killers, the son of satan, a rastafarian geini who lives in a bong and my personal favorite: the sinister and ever hapless Dean Weinerman.
Don't be put off by the art in the early episodes, as Prosser very quickly finds his stride and the cartoony style develops very nicely to serve the ever sharp writing. Adam has a very deep knowledge of comics and pop culture and is extremely well-read in general, he pulls his references from all over map but puts a fresh new spin on everything he pens.
Adam's broad wit, genial humor and crisp dialog are all reasons I wanted to have him work with me on Pewfell. Over the past few years I have seen his talent grow and mature considerably, as he has produced a considerable body of work, not only for Pewfell, but for his numerous other series including "Amazon Space Rangers" and "NightShift". Freak-U is the greatest demonstration yet of his powers and the perfect vehicle for his own particular brand of wacky humor.
