I've been watching Dave Roman grow as a talent since he entered the field back in the mid 90's with the ongoing, Harvey nominated series, QUICKEN FORBIDDEN, aka JAX EPOCH. Dave was the writer, and John Green the artist, but the book was a product of both their imaginations; imaginations that were really going places. In Dave's case, to a job at Nickelodeon Magazine. In John's, Disney Adventures. Dave and John branched out and added the mini comic TEEN BOAT to their credits, and took home an Ignatz award for that clever series. ASTRONAUT ELEMENTARY represents Dave on his own, and therefore, is pure 'Roman'.
It's hard to describe and do it justice: kids from around the galaxy attend a school in space where truly anything can happen, and usually does. Dave's art won an award for Best New Character Design. The idiosyncratic dialogue adds to the fun. The staff includes humans, robots, elves and pandas. The whole package is a wonderfully personal vision from a guy who really knows comics.. The best thing is, you're already here at Web Comics Nation, and ASTRONAUT ELEMENTARY is a click away.
