Monday - December 13, 2004: I'm jealous. The guys get to spend today working on their comic, as outrageous as it may be, while I've been plodding through my second linux install (Non-techies skip to the next paragraph). Though there have been several years of improvements since the first one I did on an old 386 with an ancient distribution of Red Hat that I picked up at a tag sale, the install still found a way to kick my ass. I had no idea an ISO couldn't be burned just like any other CD. The CD Drive would start up, say it found slackware and then conk right out. I was thinking the problem was with the laptop, what with the discussion boards full of horror stories about trying to install on even a name-brand laptop, nevermind the fly-by-night I plucked mine out of. Seven hours later, I'm up. I don't know much about Linux, but even after the seven hours, well into the morning, I want to put it through its paces. Now how the hell do I shut the thing down? (-takes quick trip to google) Oh. Thanks. I'm hoping to get back on the comic path by Monday, but for now it's off to bed. Be sure to check out this month's Webcomics Examiner which comes out some time this week if not today. I've submitted a review of Acid Keg and I play a small part in the roundtable discussion on the future of webcomics. Also, thanks to Scott McCloud for the mention in his daily blog over the weekend. Submissions of strips for review by the guys are always welcome. And by the way. Linux rocks. If you had your choice of Hb's or Pink's comic vision, which would it be? At least HB is a known entity. The comic will be full of robots kicking some ass. Pink's more of an unknown entity. I'm curious, but I'm not putting in any preorders on that one. -Bob Stevenson
