Friday - February 18, 2005:

Of course, I drew this one two days before the Cylons, the metal ones, made an appearance in a big way, guns ablazin'. My wife and I are both hooked and as we often end up out with friends on Friday night, its been the only excercise my VCR gets these days. they're playing for the slow burn in the series, rewarding weekly watchers with small bits of beauty, as little as a glance that plays back three or four weeks.

The new Battlestar Galactica beats the original in so many ways. As a kid, I would not have enjoyed this new series, too much plot and subplot. At the same time, the Sci-fi channel ran a marathon of the originals and they were almost unwatchable. I had forgotten or at least repressed that annoying dog, muffit. Was it an attempt at R2-D2 or the Buck Rogers robot? In either case, it was bad news. The new series has had a couple of hoaky moments, most involving Starbuck acting like a Wolverine wannabe. Slicing and climbing into the guts of a Cylon ship a couple weeks ago made up for some of the cockiness but she's still the weakest character in the cast. The rest is pure gold except every time the President makes an appearance I've taken to yelling out, "John Dunbar." That will need to stop.

Watch this show. it's the only thing on television I'm watching these days, well, that and English Premiership Football (background noise while I'm eating lunch).
