As a budding cartoonist many years ago, I studied and copied many styles of many prominent cartoonists. Among them was the great Al Hirschfeld. Since high school, I've worked in local community theatre. Since Hirschfeld was never likely to come out to our shows and draw our casts, as he did countless Broadway shows, I decided I could make it seem as if he had. And naturally, I couldn't resist trying my hand at some famous likenesses. Of course, Hirschfeld did draw many, perhaps most of these faces, but these are my own takes, in my humble imitation of his celebrated line. As I continue to post, there will be faces from the past and present. Sorry, none from the future! And no Nina's. That's how you tell the real thing.
