That drawing of Jason Thompson in the third panel is one of the best drawings of him I've done. It doesn't look that much like him physically, but it captures his intensity. Back in the day, it actually wasn't that uncommon for Viz employees to hang around the office at all hours, and at least one person lived there for several weeks until the management caught on. It's all much more professional now.
By the way, you are totally going to want to check out Jason's graphic novel King of RPGs when it comes out in January from Del Rey. In the meantime, you can read the Lovecraft comics he's been drawing over on his website. The Stiff, his comic for Girlamatic, is currently on hiatus, which is too bad because I love it.

Li'l Mell ... Li'l Mell ...
Starting first grade ...
See, she brought her lunch
And her favorite grenade ...
We see Li'l Mell ... Li'l Mell ...
Running amuck ...
She can fight like Popeye,
And cuss like Donald Duck!
Artie was her teacher first ...
Seems like his career was cursed ...
In a fight, he got the worst ...
The blood trail leads back to her ...
We say Li'l Mell! Li'l Mell,
How we love her!
She'll grow up some day,
To be an evil barrister!

Vera is the best. Simply the best. She doesn't do much in comics right now because she's become an animator (she worked on Coraline
, and even appears in the film in puppet form--one of Coraline's friends in the photo is based on her).

Ridiculously constructed as it may be, that final panel is still amusing.
