Nate Cull (natecull) says:
(TUNE: "Mustang Sally", The Commitments)
Bobsled Unity All you wanna do is ride around screaming (ride Unity ride)
Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:
So Unity gets to do Paul Revere! "Two arms! Two arms!"
Andrew Kunz (miyaa) says:
Argh! It's too early in the morning to get assaulted with a pun!
Erik Waer (raistandantilus) says:
Now THAT is true leadership at work.
K C (spotweld) says:
Unity as "Kitten with a whip" has now hit the edge of the fanart event horizon. Which then takes us over to a tangent with Von Pinn from Girl Genius (http://girlgenius.wikia.com/wiki/Von_Pinn)... which I also highly encourage.
Amy Fiori (amy82986) says:
Wouldn't it be easier to vaccinate the sled team, who are a) much less numerous and b) coming straight here?
Four Deer (fourdeerinmyyard) says:
Was I the only one experiencing technical difficulties last night, such that I couldn't find you? I hope, actually, that the answer is yes.
Dave Corbett (mr_dave) says:
@FourDeer: It wasn't just you. From here it looked as though the whole WCN site was down.
Fandarel (fandarel) says:
I got messages saying the whole WCN had expired completely. I thought they'd gone out of business at first.
Andy Wetmore (efogoto) says:
My mom used to say that if my head wasn't attached to my shoulders, I'd lose it. I'm of the same opinion for UNITY except she has a far better chance of pulling it off. I'm sorta shocked she was the one who remembered Tip.
The Auld Grump (theauldgrump) says:
If you're surprised, think about how surprised Sweetheart must be.... :P The Auld Grump
So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
Uh-oh.....
Tiff Hudson (tiff_hudson) says:
"The sun is going down!" "No...you've got it wrong...the horizon's moving up!" -- Firesign Theatre
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
Did anyone else have trouble viewing the site yesterday? My ISP kept saying WCN was down. Anyways ... (TUNE: "Mary", George M. Cohan) Now Tip is hairy, hairy,
Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:
Looks like Ramon has stayed doggish. That's good, he'll be the escape claws.
Eric Burns (ericburns) says:
The question now is, are they running to the tunnels or away from the tunnels.
Myrddin ap Taliesin (myrddhin) says:
Cue Elton John and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me"...
Joyce Melton (halfelven) says:
Popsicles! I prefer Fifty-Fifty Bars!
Four Deer (fourdeerinmyyard) says:
The scare about the site potentially going down prompts me to inquire: Is somebody collecting and preserving these filks? (And no, I did NOT just volunteer.)
shui lung (draconautus) says:
Nice homage to Gary Larsen!
So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
Hooo boy.
And the site didn't actually go down: it just came up for domain renewal.
Kenneth Reeves (tetramorpheus) says:
Okay, first time I've caught myself hoping that Tip HAS gone were... if only so the bulet spray won't put him out permanently...
Nate Cull (natecull) says:
(TUNE: "Unknown Soldier", Doors) She's waiting til your lecture's over She don't care what you just said! It's game over! Company halt! Stand in front of the undead soldier Popsicles go in my head! And it's all over All over baby! Game over man game over!
Ronnie Simonds (ronrab) says:
WHAT YOU SAY???
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
@shui lung: Yes, I also caught the "Far Side" reference. @Four Deer: I do keep copies of my filks. And a list of all the songs I've used. And a list of songs I've thought of but haven't used, in case I need ideas. Today's filk is brought to you by the letters "O", "C", and "D". (TUNE: "Daisy Bell" (aka "Bicycle Built For Two"), Harry Dacre) Sweetheart, Sweetheart, I hear words and I'm saluting!
Andrew Kunz (miyaa) says:
This reminds of the coolest thing about my job. The break room has freezer vending machine with popsicles and ice cream sandwiches for 50¢ each. It's the second coolest vending machine I've ever seen. The coolest was in Japan were they had vending machines that had everything. I mean everything.
Jon W. (kd7sov) says:
I bet they didn't have SCP-447-2. ( http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-447)
Terry Smith (wcfan) says:
Pfff! Japense Customs issues you some of that when you enter the country!
Fandarel (fandarel) says:
Thurday's Comic: Okay. Let's see a show of hands from everyone who think he looks like Sweetheart and the pack now?
Benjamin Whetham (crosshair) says:
I wonder. Tip now probably looks like one of the wolves, but still retains his human mind. I wonder if he will be able to move among them without arousing suspision. I also wonder if he will be able to be cured. Being a dog could be interesting from a tactical prespective on operations. Not to mention he would be able to hit on all the female dogs too :P I can't wait to see what he looks like. Been awhile since I've posted and I have no clue if this idea has been brought up or not. What if UNITY's blood has killed the virus, leaving the humans unable to switch back and forth? UNITY's blood effectivly becomes the cure.
James Rice (jhrice) says:
Knowing Tip, he'll look like a French Poodle.
Eric Burns (ericburns) says:
The thing is? A full sized French Poodle is a hell of a hunting dog, not to mention pretty nasty in a fight. It's the teacup ones that you can mock with impunity...
Rob (rrreed) says:
S-I D-E-E F-F-E C-Ts… New plan—vaccinate the townsfolk using the quantum atomizer and stop the virus while it's still in Paradise! Of course, they'll still be left with a town full of accidental(?), if no longer vicious werefolk, but that's something Skin Horse is equipped to handle.
Joyce Melton (halfelven) says:
Full-size poodles as sled dogs won a few races before being banned because they have hair (single-layer coat) and not fur (multi-layer coat) and so are in more danger of getting wet-frozen than dogs with fur. Poodles and their relatives, like the Portuguese water dog, the Irish water spaniel and that giant Hungarian-Rastafarian armored Kommodor (?) wolf-killer are all banned. People who ran the poodles in races said the hair was an advantage since poodles don't overheat as easily as furry dogs do--and that's actually a greater danger than freezing to death during a race. Poodles are also one of the most trainable breeds, get along well in groups and like most sighthounds, they love to run.
Nate Cull (natecull) says:
(TUNE: "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)", Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon) Tip Wilkin might be quadripedal Every gal who's seen Tip in bed'll Out on Hadley's Hope or downtown Tattooine Tip Wilkin is a dysmorphiphobiac That's nobody's business but the fanfic.
Corgi (corgi) says:
Um... not sighthounds. Poodles are retrievers.
Woof.
(I took my tallish boxer to go play with a standard poodle about his same age - the poodle was taller than he was. Sturdy dogs.)
So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
Oh dear.
Pete Bleackley (petethemadscientist) says:
My guess is that he's still human-shaped, he just doesn't feel bipedal (Rule of Funny).
Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:
I bet his nylons are all bunched up now.
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
(TUNE: "This Girl Is A Woman Now", Gary Puckett & The Union Gap) This guy wore a dress; This guy is a furry now,
David Harmon (mental_mouse) says:
And unlike the townsfolk, he can still talk!
Joyce Melton (halfelven) says:
@Corgi, retrievers and other gundogs (and also collies) are partly derived from old sighthound stock, or an allied European hunter group--at least, I've read that more than once. My own minipoo is definitely a retriever, she'll play fetch until my arm falls off. :) I think Tip is definitely a dog of some kind. What's a dog except a civilized wolf and is anyone more civilized than Tip? :)
Tiff Hudson (tiff_hudson) says:
Now Sweetheart can try out Tip's superpower for herself...she has him on all fours.
Myrddin ap Taliesin (myrddhin) says:
I'm just thinking back to the beginning of the strip and Unity with a tranq gun and Tip (more or less) in her sights, while Sweetheart tries to keep a lid on Unity. Now if only the puppets were here, it'd be just like old time's sake.
Andrew Kunz (miyaa) says:
Come here, Tiff. I need to hurt you...
K C (spotweld) says:
Second funny possibility: Tip is now a capybara
Four Deer (fourdeerinmyyard) says:
You guys have piqued my interest in poodles. I have to say that, when considering the kind of shelter-dog I might someday invite to a forever-home, poodles were never on my list. Hmm.
Philippa Fearn (pippaf) says:
Tip is that civilized, he'll probably be a cat.
shui lung (draconautus) says:
Prince Rupert of the Rhine (cousin of Charles I) had a full sized poodle named Boy that followed him in to battle. The Parlimentarians claimed that Rupert was a wizard and Boy was his familiar. How's THAT for historical trivia?
ysabet hasuko (ysabet) says:
To shui lung: I remember a book about that, called 'Witch Dog'; read it when I was in my early teens, I think. I've known a few of those 'real' poodles, and the suckers are HUMONGOUS. They *know* it too-- rather mellow and confident dogs.
ysabet hasuko (ysabet) says:
Oh, the humanity! (or should that be 'Oh, the lycanthropy!'?)
Terry Smith (wcfan) says:
Hey! She has her arms back! I missed that!
Jacob Haller (jwgh) says:
If I interpret the timing correctly, the arms were reattached while Sweetheart was negotiating with Buddy.
Fandarel (fandarel) says:
Mostly. You can see her sewing on Monday.
So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
*snicker*
Pete Bleackley (petethemadscientist) says:
Unity prefers to be armed at all times. PS - still not showing us what Tip looks like at the moment? You are keeping us in suspenders, aren't you?
Four Deer (fourdeerinmyyard) says:
Makes me want to belt you one.
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
(TUNE: "I Love Rock And Roll", The Arrows) I got infected, locked up in a cell! Oh, I
Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:
Monday's strip: Sweetheart: Tip! You look absolutely ... Tip: Bitchin'!
Maricruz Villalobos-Zamora (maki_p) says:
I just remember! Shaenon liked to give Narbonic cliffhangers on weekends, I guess Jeff agrees. And I knew Tip was really worried about his clothes, the fashion Diva
larry harpring (hyrral7734) says:
I'm thinking.......Were-Woman
Naomi H (starbright) says:
...and he still has the little glasses perched on his nose! Question: Does Tip's superpower now work on female dogs? Such as, say, Sweetheart?
ysabet hasuko (ysabet) says:
Good question from starbright there. I mean, I seriously doubt that Sweetheart's been spayed. Tip sure makes a cute little werewolf, though, doesn't he? Bet he'd sire some awfully pretty puppies.
Fandarel (fandarel) says:
I think I understand the principles of Mad Science! help me?
Adam Underfoot (unnatural20) says:
The question of Tip's power shall come up, fair readers, and be answered. Rest assured.
Nate Cull (natecull) says:
(TUNE: "Like A Rolling Stone", Bob Dylan) Once upon a time you dressed so fine How does it feel? The Greeks used to keep their murders off-stage How does it feel?
EvilMid nightLurker (emlurker) says:
... ... ... *mmf* ... *mmmmmmf...* ... BWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :)
M. Alan Thomas II (crazydreamer) says:
The real question is "How does a dog/wolf crossdress?"
Jon Stout (brasswatchman) says:
Studded pink collar of some sort, I'd imagine.
Anyway, I find the idea of Unity discussing horror movie tropes sort of entertaining in of itself. I mean, here she is, undead abomination running on some kind of anti-blood, and she was scared of a shark? :) It's a nice character moment, when you think about it. Kind of like this: http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20090729 .
Andrew Kunz (miyaa) says:
I have to ask: is the opinion of Unity reflective of that of either Shanneon or Jeffery? (Screw Sweetheart (literally?). Sparkles will mate Tip first.)
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:
(TUNE: "Ghost Riders In The Sky", Stan Jones) The readers waited all this week to see what Tip would be, Yip-yip-yip-yi! Until last night, a transvestite as bishy as could be; Yip-yip-yip-yi!
Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:
I was thinking "This Girl Is a Werewolf Now" (To "This Girl Is a Woman Now") but I lack the mojo. We only had to wait until Skin Horse Day Three to see Unity, she's the scary that doesn't disappoint!
David Harmon (mental_mouse) says:
starbright and ysabet: The real question is what would the puppies be like -- gene-engineered dog vs. werewolf????
Kristine Roland (kristineroland) says:
i agree, it will work on Sparkles, but Sweetheart will be imune, because that will be funnier, and it will allow Unity and Sweetheart to role their eyes over it again.
Matthew Mather (madtinkerer) says:
Okay, so Tip + Lycanthropy + Serum = Talking Dog. I was thinking this yesterday, but decided not to post it, but it's just too obvious to me and no one else seems to be pointing it out: Are the first batch of "genetically engineered" Talking Dogs really genetically engineered or were they just a bunch more folks who had Lycanthropy + Serum?
Mark Cantrell (kita) says:
Congratulations Sweethart, now you get to experience the Tip Charisma first paw! Woo!
eNoob (boonead) says:
I don't know... Sweetheart looks like she might be blushing... (How do you tell under all that fur?)
Four Deer (fourdeerinmyyard) says:
Matthew, I think not, because we've seen flashbacks of them as puppies. Natch, everybody immediately starts shipping Tip and Sweetheart. Yawn. Jeff and Shaenon have something much less predictable in mind, I'm sure. Oh, and Ed and Nate: Exquisite as usual.
Tiff Hudson (tiff_hudson) says:
Those glasses are SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!
ysabet hasuko (ysabet) says:
To madtinkerer: Was kind of wondering along those lines myself, as in "So is this what getting the serum *after* the bite does to a human?" In that case, if the town of werewolves gets misted with atomized serum, Tip's gonna have company in his misfortune... and a place to spend his holidays. ^__^ **starts singing Leader Of The Pack**
Maricruz Villalobos-Zamora (maki_p) says:
M. Alan Thomas II: With bows and ribbons of course! I was specting a Poodle (yes! killer Poodles!)
Andrew Kunz (miyaa) says:
Well, it could have been worse. He could have transformed into a gerbil of unusual size.
Cara d(^o^)b (carakaze) says:
@Andrew Kunz: a gerbil genetically modified to look like a dog/wolf! :D
Dave Corbett (mr_dave) says:
@Andrew: Would that be a Gerbil of Intelligence, Refined & Ladylike? Anyway, I was sure Tip was going to turn into a fox...
So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
(snicker) Nice.
