@Keiya — The DoI seal's colors are based on Cherenkov Radiation, particularly this picture. I was deliberately trying to avoid the yellow-black-red schemes of traditional warning signs.

Why was the DoJS founded in 1784 of all times? After those blasted Montgolfier brothers succeeded in achieving manned flight in 1783, they just had to go and come up with a way to dispense with the gondola, resulting in not a few horrific (and hushed-up) accidents. Benjamin Franklin was ambassador to France at the time, and the rest is history.

Finally, the phone number on the OoGLC seal originally had "454" in place of "555". The correct phone number is in use for something else in the real world these days, unfortunately.
