Shaenon: Here it is! Skin Horse Volume 2, featuring the entire Alaska arc! As you can see, I'm very happy. My first order of business is to send out copies all the people who backed the publication of the book through Kickstarter.com. If you're not one of those lucky people, you can order the book now at The Couscous Store.

As mentioned last week, Jeff and I will be joining forces in San Francisco this month to promote Volume 2. First we'll be at the Couscous Collective table at the Alternative Press Expo on the weekend of October 16-17. The next weekend, on Saturday, October 23, we'll be at the Skin Horse book release party at Borderlands Books. If you're in the area, come see us and the new book!

And thanks again to everyone who supported Volume 2 through Kickstarter. Jeff and I were blown away by the generosity of everyone. I'm so happy we were able to make this book happen.

Channing: In fact, your remarkable generosity is one of the main reasons I have enough money to go out to San Francisco this year in the first place. While in San Francisco I will, of course, be selling more books. IT IS A RESONANCE CASCADE SCENARIO OF BOOK-SELLING. Do stop by the con, or the party, or both, even if you've already purchased your copy via Kickstarter, because coming to see us in person is the one chance you'll have to get *both* of our signatures on your copy. Of course, you could always purchase an entirely fresh copy, so that you have a separate one for each of our signatures. I will not complain one bit about this hypothetical plan of yours.

Shaenon: By the way, how hot is my outfit? I am so working it.

Euel Ball (euel) says:

Totally hot!  That Chewbacca T-shirt rocks, but what do you expect from someone who looks like Helen Narbon's younger, hipper, sister.  I do make passes at girls who wear glasses, YOW!!

Joyce Melton (halfelven) says:

Got my copy in the mail earlier in the week and I'm going APE next weekend. See you there. :)

Shaenon Garrity (shaenongarrity) says:

Geez, I'm now older than Helen was at any point in Narbonic.
Nathan Wilson (nathan) says:

I don't live too far away from San Francisco, and I certainly could take a drive up there for an afternoon or so. I've heard of APE, but never knew what it entailed, guess I'll read up on it.

Johnn Reynolds (sleepyjohn) says:

Chewbacca T-shirt & paint-spattered jeans = a geek girl who's a maker.  Hot doesn't get any hotter than that.

Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:

Wookie dat outfit!  (I still like my "Science is a verb now" glow-in-the-dark shirt better.)

Funded by Kickstarter, Volume Two of Skin Horse,
Would have been much harder, but the fans are a force!
Now it's freshly minted, and it's really a trip!
Now it's newly printed and it's ready to ship!
Come on out to APE 'cause it's a happening place!
Come on out to Borderlands and stare at our face!

Tom Powell (top1950) says:

Can't wait to get mine.  I just LOVE the Unity/Sweetheart team!

Martin Hellberg Olsson (the_somewhat_knight) says:

You are all ages and none... or something. I actually went and checked your age on Wikipedia (how does it feel to have your own page?) and... and nothing really in the end, except I think it's easy to miss how young Helen and even Dave (who you do see finishing college (?) in the first strips are supposed to be. Being 30 myself now, I could have guessed that Helen was anything up to 35.

Anyway, outfit is great. Nerd-chic squared, in a good way, check. Beautiful, and honest, expression of the hard-working artist archetype - check. Five stars.

And I need to get ordering.

Brian Rogers (billionsix) says:

You're a cute girl, you know that, Shaenon?

The Auld Grump (theauldgrump) says:

Eeek! The envelope my copy came in was infested with swashbuckling silverfish! :) (There's a reason I always keep your envelopes....)

The Auld Grump

Diane Castle (deecee) says:

@Ed: I am totally seeing P!nk singing that version with her trademark snarl.

Michael Kimmitt (punditusmaximus) says: The outfit is lovely nerd-chic, but your glasses downplay your eyes, and smart people have good eyes.
Tom Powell (top1950) says:

Hey, Shaenon, is that your home?  You have a comic book display rack in your home?!?  That is beyond awesome!  (but my wife would kill me if I tried it)

lucy wang (soccercleats) says:
