Shaenon: Really early sketches of Remy, long before he had a name. I keep wanting to give guys hairdos like this. This is what a 1980s childhood will do to a person.

Channing: There's something very Dave Davenport-esque about his side cut. For the record, I think the final design is a better look, but there's something weirdly charming about this one. I'm also a child of the 80s, though, so maybe it's just that.

It just occurred to me...

His name is Remy. He lives in New Orleans. It's probably a coincidence. A funny one, but still.

Oh, and this is the first time I've commented on Skin Horse. I like the comic. Thanks guys.

Jeffrey Channing Wells (channing) says: Thanks for commenting, Alex. Glad you're enjoying. Not sure what coincidence you're referencing, unless it's the Marvel comics connection, which is indeed a coincidence, not an intentional reference. :)
Bethany Wade (bethanygirl) says: I don't usually comment either, but I wondered about the Remy thing too, only I was thinking of Remy McSwain, lieutenant in Homicide in the movie, 'The Big Easy'. Anyway, thanks for the strip, it brightens every day for me and it is the first site I visit on my morning rounds. Thanks to you both, Shaenon and Channing, you two are the best!
Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:

(TUNE: "Copacabana", Barry Manilow)

His name is Remy,
He's from New Orleans!
His appellations' just the same
As that mutant Gambit's name!
But Jeffrey Channing
Says "No relation,
It's just coincidence", he said
Though he seems to like the dead!
And he un-flap-pa-bly
Can chat with U-ni-ty!
And it's a trip when the readers ship them!
(Look it up, Woo-zy!)

In New Orleans, the Crecent City!
Where life, post-Katrina, is gritty!
In New Orleans, the Crecent City ..
Romance and voodoo
Create quite a to-do
In New Orleans!
(It's zombie love ...)

@Ed: I've never failed to be impressed by how you can... would "filk" be appropriate here? I'll use filk for lack of any other verb... filk a song at such short notice.

@Channing: The Marvel connection was just it. Thanks for clearing that up. Now my life is complete, up until the next time I get hung up over an inconsequential detail in a fictional work I enjoy.

Norman Thallheimer (normanrt) says:

Fen on this commentary (and Narbonic's commentary) have been using "filk" as the verb for what Ed does for years now.  Not sure if this use predates Narbonic or not, but "filk" has been used as a verb for people singing filk songs for decades at least, possibly since a certain con whose program was printed with "Filk Singing" on the schedule of events.

Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says:

Whatever you call it, I appreciate the positive comments.  I guess I just have a filky mind ...

Michael Farren (farren) says:

"filk" goes back at least to the '70s, and very probably long before that.

Corgi (corgi) says:

And it's always been a verb as well as a noun-segment, as in 'filk song'.

Yeah, and the Phillies could signmore than wholesale promotional gifts 800,000 Roy Halladays. But when would they pitch? We're not really sure what Flake's point is except to again acknowledge that $14.6 trillion is a lot of money. Besides, if Scorsese were to get the dough to shoot 811,000 TV episodes, there would probably be a drop in quality. It would also take you more than 93 years of sleep-free days to wholesale overstock from China watch them all. * What do Bristol Palin and Chaz Bono have in common? Both have received added security from "Dancing with the Stars." Oh, and neither can dance. (Note: this was written before Chaz's debut last night but Tattle is clairvoyant.) TMZ.com reports that ABC believes there Yiwu doorbells are "crazies" out there who have a thing against Chaz so he will be getting security on and off the dance floor. Even though flame-throwing psychologist Keith Ablow has stoked his Fox audience into believing that Chaz's dancing might spur a rash of people to seek out gender-reassignment surgery - until Megyn Kelly verbally slapped him upside the head - we don't expect a stampede at the plastic surgeon's office. When Tattle sees "Dancing with the Stars," we don't question our sex; we question our species. Daily News wire services contributed to this report.
