Shaenon: Last week, Beth Bever shared stills of her Were-Tip character on World of Warcraft. Today she tops herself with Moustachio the Thinkonium, created for Champions Online. Writes Beth:

I almost made Tip in Champions Online, until I remembered that someone beat me to it. I tried and failed to make Unity. Then I started thinking about how a few people have made Tip characters, there's plenty of Unity and Sweetheart fanart, and Gavotte is just plain hard to incorporate into anything, but where's the love for Moustachio?

So I made Moustachio the Thinkonium for Champions Online instead.

I couldn't manage to incorporate the wavey lines (vents?) or wind-up key, and I had to add some copper details to tone down the YELLOW that resulted from trying to make brass in a game visually based on a comic book, but considering I didn't think I could do it at all I think he turned out pretty well. Limbs are non-optional, so I guess he's either been repaired or this world's version of him never got caught. What kinds of powers do you think he should have?

My favorite thing about him? His eyebrows are completely detached from his face. Reminds me of early Narbonic.

He has legs and everything! Capital! Thanks again, Beth!

Channing: This was totally 100% great until the thought crossed my mind that hey, I bet Moustachio dreams of being a super-buff superhero who has legs and everything and then I got all sad, because he entirely lacks them. Still, excellent work.

apple apple (mutevampire) says:

His legs are obviously designed for him to be in a toustle, so they should also be able to withstand the strain of him leaping upon his enemies (movement power should be Superjump)

The sound his fists make while pummeling his targets is head-splitting (take Sonic Device from Gadgeteering)

Other than that, take anything that would improve upon his ability to engague in Fisticuffs (punching, dodging, shielding/tanking damage, more punching)

So It Begins (soitbegins) says: I love it!
Tiff Hudson (tiff_hudson) says:

apple apple (mutevampire) says:

the Might tree seems to have a lot of items that would make for a masterful fisticuffs fighter - Defensive Combo, Defiance (this or lightning reflexes for the defensive passive slot) Mighty Leap, Retaliation, Roomsweeper (for when the scallawags decide to engague him en masse), Uppercut, perhaps Thunderclap, and Unstoppable (for the offensive passive slot)

Righteous Fists and/or Lightning Reflexes from the Martial Arts tree, as Clobber might not be a gentlemanly energy builder

Power Armor has Invulnerability (balanced passive slot) and a Targetting Computer which Moustachio might use

David Harmon (mental_mouse) says: Why should Mustachio be just another bruiser? Consider what he did when he "snapped" -- gathered everyone into his "very own target-rich environment" for weapon attacks!
Norman Thallheimer (normanrt) says:

The Power Armor tree (to a lesser extent, the rest of the Inventions group) has plenty of weapons.  My choices would be the shoulder mounted gatling gun or the experimental blaster.  Choose the most Victorian-looking options at the Tailor for other weapons, and Bob's your uncle.

Righteous Fists includes kicks, which seem contra-indicated by Mustachio's design.  Perhaps a sonic stunner?

And when Mustachio reaches level 25, who gets to be his Nemesis?  Perhaps another Thinkonium?

Michael Farren (mike_farren) says:

When Mustachio was decommisioned, before he became the Skin Horse receptionist, his mighty limbs were removed in order to prevent the kind of destruction and despair which, unfortunately, we nearly saw anyway in "Tin Soldier".  Before that, as Tigerlily Jones saw, he was indeed a mighty and fully-limbed warrior, with the only authentic brass cojones in the whole bunch.
