Okay, this silly sketch has its origin in an email exchange with Shaenon a few weeks back. We'd both noticed that pageviews were up when the first rooftop strip appeared. I suggested that this was due to the eyeball-searing amount of purple I'd used: "Purple = popularity!" Shaenon responded by invoking the arcane sales strategies attributed to 1960's DC Comics:

Okay, from now on, every page has to incorporate purple, fire, gorillas, and/or motorcycles.

As you can see, I took her edict seriously. (Though the cover I'm pastiching here is actually from the early 70's.) So, expect some gorillas on flaming motorcycles in Thursday's strip. Or something even weirder.
