Eric's power to generate force fields first appeared when he was very young. As he matured, he learned to expand and contract them, and to change their properties.

At its strongest, Eric's force field forms a virtually impenetrable globe just over 5 feet in diameter. At this strength, the force field becomes highly reflective of kinetic energy and Eric is able to use this to "bounce". At lower strength, his force field absorbs most kinetic energy. Cherenkov radiation gives it a bluish glow.
