As Mega, Paul Chandler was one of the strongest men who ever lived. His power, derived from "cosmic energy" fueling his cells made him immensely strong and nearly impossible to injure. He was active, as a super-hero in the 20th century on his world, and the 21st century Earth in this reality. His own world was consumed by Omnedon's foragers.
Paul, his brother and wife formed the core of the Los Angeles super-team The Guardians in the 21st and early 22nd century. As time passed, Paul and his brother Boyd learned that the energies that powered them somehow retarded their aging. Paul's wife, Cassandra, remained relatively young due to her prodigious psionic powers.
The Guardians of 2119 were off Earth at the time of the Exile Event, but were still a victim of it. All memory of the location of Earth, even in computer storage, was erased. Anyone who knew of Earth forgot the location and so Earth was lost, even to those few who had the power or the technology to travel the stars.
Cassandra detected the inhabitants of Atlas, some 60 light-years away, but due to a failure of their hyper drive, they were forced into stasis for many decades, and arrived at Atlas 296 years after the exile event. By that time, Atlas's society had taken shape, but the infusion of superior technology, especially paragravity engineering, did much to change the social structure of Atlas, leading to the Grounder Rebellion in 298 A.E. (After Exile).
Eventually, Paul, Cassandra and Boyd left Atlas, following the death of Victoria Chandler in 392 A.E. and Boyd, also known as Wildstar began to travel the stars. Paul and Cassandra began work on the company that would become Ad Astra Industries, and with the introduction of the tach-com FTL communications system, became the leading human-run enterprise in the galaxy. With the funding provided by operating "the interstellar phone company", they were able to launch the school that bears the company name, Ad Astra University.
